The False Doctrine of Hell Exposed

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in HELL.

What is Hell? If you asked the average person, they would probably tell you that “hell” is the place where bad people go. Christians will tell you that this is the place of eternal torment for the wicked and unbelieving people who didn’t repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Go to Google and perform a search on the word “hell” and you will see dozens if not hundreds of websites discussing the realities of hell. There are also countless videos on YouTube about personal testimonies from people who claim to have gone to hell and then are allowed to come back to share their story with the world. This is nothing more than a tactic to scare people in to being Christians. I will tell you with the utmost confidence that these people are deceived and others are just flat out telling a bold faced lie. People get caught up with the fantasy and drama of hell and fail to realize that the teaching of hell or eternal punishment contradicts what the scriptures teach. The truth is that the word “hell” has no place in the scriptures and it is a terrible translation for the words in the original languages that it represents.

Below is my series in which I explain all the meanings of words that represent hell and I explain the truth about this terrible false doctrine that has been and continues to deceive millions and millions of people all over the world.

    1. The same thing that happens to the righteous…

Ecclesiastes 9:2 ALL THINGS COME ALIKE TO ALL: THERE IS ONE EVENT TO THE RIGHTEOUS, AND TO THE WICKED; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.

If we continue reading in Ecclesiastes 9, the context is clear that the one event that happens to the righteous and the wicked is finding our end at the grave in death.

When a person dies, they are dead and being dead is the opposite of being alive. There is NO hell for the wicked or a literal heaven for the righteous after death. Scripture tells us that the dead know nothing. It is in the resurrection that people experience life again.

In John 5:28-29 Christ tells us that there will be two resurrection events, the first which is the resurrection to life and the second which is the resurrection to judgment. In the resurrection to judgment, God will judge the world in righteousness. The wicked will suffer from God’s purifying judgment but God is a fair and just God and He will judge the world in a way that will eventually produce righteousness in everyone.

Isaiah 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for WHEN THY JUDGMENTS ARE IN THE EARTH, THE INHABITANTS OF THE WORLD WILL LEARN RIGHTEOUSNESS.

      1. Malachi 3:1-3 “Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the Lord of hosts. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness.

Did you even read my series on the false doctrine of hell? Do you know what this passage of scripture means in the book of Malachi? I explain in great detail how fire is used as a metaphor in the bible. There are number of verses that clearly illustrate that the fire of God’s judgement is corrective and purifying in nature. Hebrews 12:29 says that God is a consuming fire but surely you understand that this is figurative and not literal. How is God a consuming fire? Malachi tells us that he is ‘like” a REFINER’S FIRE! Does this sound like God uses fire to torture people? I don’t have a lot of time to go into detail about the spiritual typology and symbolism of “Levi” who is a type or representative of “all humanity” just as the mount of Esau in Obadiah 1:21. If you read Isaiah 66:18-23 you will read how God will gather all nations to declare His glory from which He will make PRIESTS and LEVITES! Do you think the scriptures are talking about the literal tribe of Levi in Malachi 3:3? Jeremiah 33:22 says that God will MULTIPLY the Levites that minister to Him and this multiplication is compared to the number of the host of heaven or the sand of the sea. This is talking about the judgment of the world. Isaiah 66:23 says that ALL FLESH shall come to worship before God because the world will be holy priests symbolized as (the sons of Levi) to present to God an offering in righteousness.

Isaiah 26:9 With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

So yes, God’s judgment is corrective and it purifies! It transforms and changes us, it doesn’t torture us…

  1. Lol the author is severely confused. Brother, take a look at Matthew 7 and you will read that God Himself in the flesh is preaching on Hell and the realities of it. If you miss this, you misrepresent the gospel. Change the name of your blasphemous website. You are preaching a false gospel and numbing the reality of torment and punishment for the wicked. The just and righteous and holy God we serve will not be held back from pouring out His wrath on those whom reject Him. And be aware that the worst of the punishment is for so called Christians, those whom had an opportunity to turn to Christ. And those whom are teachers will be judged even more harshly. Be warned. Do not take the gospel lightly. Turn back to our merciful God and He will remember your sins no more. You are fulfilling the scriptures about false teachers.

    1. Hello spiritual terrorist! I hope you are having a good day… Let me start by saying that you are not the first hell-lover to come on this site spewing your evil hate rhetoric in regards to the pagan hell of Christendumb. Matthew 7 has NOTHING to do with hell and the word hell is not even found anywhere in that chapter. I have spent a lot of time explaining why hell is an erroneous word and why it has no place in the bible. I have written an entire series explaining all of the translation errors associated with the damnable teaching of hell so I will not waste my time repeating that information hear just to entertain you. You understand very little when it comes to understanding the purpose of judgement. Judgment produces correction not unending merciless torture in fire. An earthly parent punishes their children as a method to influence change in behavior not to induce pain and suffering. When my children disobey me, I take away things they like, I don’t put them in my oven and bake them to death… That’s evil and insane yet that perverted perspective is more in line with what you endorse. There is nothing just, righteous, or holy about billions of parents, grandparents, children, and grandchildren being barbecued alive in real fire for all eternity with no hope of redemption. I’d like to see the look on your face if God sent your mother or daughter to be tortured in the damnable hell you boast about. Would you set back in a recliner and have a coke with popcorn? Or would you plead with God to have mercy on them to free them from such a fate? Thank God, the Creator of the Universe is not limited to the mental perversions of sinful humanity. Make no mistake about it, God will judge the world but like I said before, you do not have a clue what you are talking about when it comes to the judgment of God. Let me show you what happens when God’s judgments are in the earth;

Isaiah 26:9 With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

Did you read that? When God’s “JUDGMENTS” are in the earth, who learns righteousness? THE INHABITANTS OF THE WORLD!!! Who is left out of the inhabitants of the world? What do you say to that? What scriptures will you quote as to prove Isaiah 26:9 to be a lie or to be contradictory? Isaiah 26:9 is a statement of fact not opinion or interpretation so your disagreement with that prophecy is your personal problem.

Have the scales of darkness fallen from your blind eyes? I doubt it… You do not know the gospel of Christ… You know the counterfeit gospel of Christianity which is no gospel at all, it is spiritual terrorism. I welcome honest dialogue, criticism, and even disagreement, but I will not tolerate any promotion of the heresy of hell. I will speak out against it every time boldly and openly when necessary but I will not engage it. I made this comment section for readers to ask questions and to provide feedback from what I’ve written. You have provided nothing coherent or useful just regurgitated fear mongering Christian dialogue fueled from years of Christian indoctrination.

Note: I will NOT be changing the name of this website… Christ is the Savior of the Whole World and He will not fail…

    1. “WOW,” I was taught and believed that multitudes upon multitudes of humans will suffer “eternal torment” for 100 trillion years, and then another 100 trillion years, and then another 100 trillion years, and it goes on and on with no hope of it ever ending. I am certain that each one of us, deep inside of our very being, know that something just does not add up concerning this picture, but we just can’t quite figure out what is it that we are not understanding correctly.

The true biblical teaching is neither the traditional Christian view of hell, nor the view of annihilation. Our great God is neither a great torturer nor a great annihilator, but He is the great Saviour of the world.

The mystery of the finished work of Christ on the Cross will one day reveal the perfect plan of God for the entire human race, which does not include “eternal torment” or “eternal annihilation” for one single person!

I have written upon this topic, but it is much too lengthy to post on this site. Below is a sample. If anyone would like a copy in it’s original Word Document Format, feel free to e-mail me and request a copy, and I will e-mail you a copy.

………. What is the “GOOD NEWS” of the Gospel of Christ? ……….
(Re-examining the widely held belief of “eternal torment” in “Hellfire”)

There are some Biblical topics which in order to get a better and clearer understanding of require a lengthy Biblical explanation. This Biblical topic is certainly one of them. After all, there is certainly NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT than “our eternal purpose” & “our eternal destination!” Therefore, it is of the utmost importance for us to have a better and clearer Biblical understanding concerning this most important topic.

My purpose for this writing is to Biblically “expound” upon (1) is there really going to be “eternal torment?” (2) is there really going to be “eternal annihilation?” (3) to give a Biblical answer to the question “If there is no “eternal torment,” and if there is no “eternal annihilation” of our very being, then what are we being saved from, and what is our being here during this present time on earth really all about?”

I was a Christian for 38 years before the Lord opened up my Spiritual understanding to see more clearly some Biblical truths that I had not properly understood in regards to the finished work of Christ on the Cross.

  2. Most pastors talk about the compassion of Jesus Christ and how He went to the cross and died for us so that we might be saved, others talk about how Jesus Christ cast out demons and healed the sick and that is what they base their ministry on, but today it is not popular at all to take everything in the bible that Jesus Christ said and preach on it, for the son of man is the one who said hell fire.

Mat 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

    1. It amazes me that I can write an entire article discussing the Greek word “gehenna” and how it has NOTHING to do with Christianity’s pagan hell yet I still get people quoting these spurious hell verses as if they have the slightest clue as to what they are even talking about. Do you know what Christ is talking about in Matthew 5:22? The only word you see is hell and because you see hell you think that provides all the validity you need to justify Christianity’s most vile doctrine ever invented. The topic of discussion that Jesus was having was the subject of JUDGMENT and comparing the old way of judgment according to the law and the new judgment according to the much higher spiritual standard of God that Christ was holding his disciples to.

Matthew 5:21-22 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.”

Now what is “hell fire”? Well, the word hell is translated from the Greek word “gehenna” which is a transliteration of the two Hebrew words “gay” and “Hinnom”. It is properly rendered as “the valley of Hinnom” and in the bible, this place is described as a place where the Israelite’s had their own children pass through the fire as a sacrifice to pagan gods. Historical documents have revealed that this “valley of Hinnom” was also a place of waste or the local garbage dump where trash and the bodies of dead criminals and animals were thrown. The fire in “gehenna” was used to destroy the garbage and rotting flesh and that is the reason behind Christ using literal “gehenna” as a symbol for the destruction of the works of the flesh. Literal “gehenna” or the actual physical location on earth is a city with parks and trees. There are no more children being sacrificed there and there is no fire there as well. Christ uses “gehenna fire” symbolically… We all know that “murder” is wrong and that a person goes to court to face judgment for such crimes but our human courts do not address the sins of the heart for which all sins are manifested. God’s judgment is a judgment that will destroy the carnality of the human heart for out of the heart the mouth speaks. So being angry and arguing with someone typically results in speaking obscenities (calling them a “fool”) which can lead to actual murder and to God this is no different than murder itself. Christ goes on to talk about being reconciled to your brother if they have been offended in the very next verse – he doesn’t say anything about salvation or accepting himself as a way to avoid going to Christianity’s hell fire. So what does it mean when God uses the “fire” of His judgment to destroy the WORKS of the flesh?

1 Corinthians 3:15 If anyone’s WORK is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be “saved”, yet so as through FIRE.

    2. Anger w/o cause to a BROTHER is emotional, being given over to it. Raca= a hard unloving heart to say it, you’ve some condemnation in you. Racist, sexist, whatever ist. It means worthless, empty, wastrel. You’d hear it along with them spitting on you. You’d see in the way people treat the homeless/Lazarus.

You fool! is the same hardness + pride/self surety so you will not change,hear,listen- a council is a waste of time you’ll only respond to force. The pharisees prayer. I thank you God that I am shiny me, that I keep the sabbath and smell real nice unlike that pos. Got the self love swirling around the outer hatred in some violent bonding/ unison.

Emotion- very dangerous if you don’t conquer them they do things like pop up absent cause. Can be brushed off. You burn bridges. Raca= a council/intervention, “gentle spirit” words to shame/humble of you is called for, needs a scraping. YOU FOOL! All 3 caked in. Needs a hard chemistry type of purging. Fires and tribulations.

You can see the growth pattern. Like the stages of the disease. Stage 1- Bad emotion to who you know and love (your brother) absent cause. Stage 2- Raca. That’s your lumping, scapegoating of whatever strangers saying not even worth a thought have spit instead. I blame them…. whoever they are feels good too. Stage 3- You fool! Pride in it.

  3. Please excuse my lack of english language.
First of let me tell you that I totally agree with you. It’s a false man made doctrine.
There is another important point of view which seems to be in 99,99% of the cases….approaches neglected.
I’m ptetty sure that the eternal punishment in hell is on contradiction with man’s free will.
If the eternal punishment is true it means that we have no free will and the free of choice. It means that God is forcing every one of us to choose Him. Now wouldn’t be that an act of extortion?

YOU CHOOSE ME OR YOU WILL BURN IN HELL FOREVER AND EVER!!!!

Is that your loving God you worship?

So sad that today’s Christianity is full of false doctrines.
Two days ago I was watching on YouTube a vid by some Ruben Israel guy. Oh my graceful God. I couldn’t watch more than 5 minutes. The apostasy is here,…I see this kind of hypocrisy and legalism everywhere.

God bless all those who put their trust in Jesus. I’m an easy believer, saved by God’s grace through faith and not because of my own works. Glory to loving God!

    1. I’ll probably write a paper on this at some point but just so you know man does not have a free will. The belief that man has a free will might be the oldest lie ever concocted by the minds of men. The idea of “choice” being free from influence is actually an oxymoron for there is no choice that can be made without some form of influential data. The fact that most people choose based on their own personal preference creates the illusion that choice is free but what you prefer still requires influence. The ability to choose has nothing to do with freedom of the will for humans make hundreds of choices everyday but all choices are caused by something. Case in point; most adults who work set their alarm to wake themselves up in the morning so they can get ready for work. When that alarm goes off, you wake up but your body tells you to keep sleeping. You ignore what your body tells you to do and you get up anyway… Why? Is that an example of freedom of the will or did something cause you to make that choice? The cause is quite evident for working and earning money to be able to live is a much more powerful cause then continuing to sleep in your bed. Were you forced to go to work? Maybe in a way but force is not really a good work – MOTIVATION is a better word and it just so happens that the majority of people that believe in a literal fire burning hell are motivated to believe it based on fear. Fear is a very powerful motivator and with it you can get people to do just about anything. God doesn’t use fear to motivate humans to change, He uses corrective judgment that comes from a foundation of love similar to that of human parents and their children. I don’t force my children to do my will… I motivate them with love and corrective teaching. With all of that said, nobody can choose God anyway without God first drawing that person so the idea that a person can just choose God is actually illogical and impossible.

Note: I watched a little bit of that video and it is nothing new that hasn’t been done before. Those holier than thou Christians that go to the places of sinners only to condemn them do it for self-righteous purposes. I can assure you that their hearts are just as evil if not more than the sinners that condemn to their pagan hell. I wouldn’t give a person like that 2 seconds of my time as it would be 2 seconds wasted…

    2. I read what you said and watched this video. It’s unconscionable for these so-called “Christians” to treat these women this way. It’s like these men shouting these horrible things never even picked up a Bible and read any of what Jesus actually did or said. Jesus’ did get angry often; however, he was always more gentle and understanding of sinners than of the so-called and self-proclaimed righteous people. Jesus said he came for sinners- He came to direct them to life instead of death. He said to love your enemies. These men are not loving- they are hating, and they are unfortunately pushing these already vulnerable women even further down the path of loss and death instead of gain and life. How sad and evil of them. Forgive them God, for they know not what they do.

It is important to understand that the Lake of Fire is not a physical Lake of Fire. The Biblical phrase “Lake of Fire” is symbolic for a Spiritual Lake of Fire which is representative of the FIRE of God’s Spirit that is going to do a transforming work of “Divine Purification” in each individual that comes before the Great White Throne Judgment. This transforming work from God’s Spirit will give these individuals a full understanding of God’s Boundless Love for them and the entire human race. (Note: The Scriptures do not reveal how long that this process will take)

I have written a 26 page article that Biblically deals with this subject extensively. If anyone would like a copy, feel free to e-mail me and ask for a copy, and I will e-mail you a copy.

  6. The Real Gospel of Christ: Thank toy for throwing some lights to the subject! I will read it all soon as possible.
I’m a newly saved to Christ, but many things around other Christians have still been confusing me.
I have always been believed in God since I was born. But my short story so far is, that my mom got baptised as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1993.
And I followed started to study with them 10 years later and was baptised in 2007. Then short after I developed a depression to the cause of the witnesses society of social control, which devastated me mentally. We can say, that I in many years got raped spiritualy and I today have some struggles of PTSD.
So last year, Jesus came to me in a vision and saved me, after I watched some strong evidences about which false prophets The Watchtower Organisation is.
Many things have hurted me in the society, but some things where also good. They didn’t believe the literally hell is biblical, with same points as to bake the children if they are disobeying. They actually used (funny enough) the word Gehenna, as you are describing.
For me it makes sense. When parents has so much love to their kids in relative righteousness, we can be sure, that God have even more in righteousness, definitely in absolution! So my question is why should a kind, loving God let his kids struggle forever in a hellfire? I better want to stop existing then! Gehenna should be total destruction, as I was taught by the witnesses.
Well, we don’t know how accurate the things it, so I look forward to that day God will reveal everything and can be more than 100% sure, that hell isn’t existing. My intuition says, that it doesn’t, and for me it’s some kind a revelation I got from Jesus, because it was a part of the way he used to show himself for me last year. 🤗
I look forward to read it all. And God’s bless to you my brother. ❤️ May his mercy be with you in the work he gives you. 😉
    Sincerely with love and peace,

    1. I can assure you that God is NOT going to torture a single person in Christianity’s godless hell. That is a demonic teaching stolen from the pagans to keep the religious controlled through fear. Eternal destruction is also not true although it would be a hell (pun intended) of a lot saner than barbecuing people in hell for all eternity. Gehenna symbolizes destruction of the carnal person that lives in all of us. God will destroy the sinful lust loving “internal person” that resides in all of humanity. The product will be the production of billions of spiritual sons and daughters birthed into the family of God. Read through my series and I’m sure it will answer many of your questions… Thanks for commenting and be well!

  7. how would you explain this passage in hebrews?
“For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “V ENGEANCE IS M INE, I WILL REPAY.” And again, “T HE LORD WILL JUDGE H IS PEOPLE.” It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

    1. What is your interpretation of the passage you quoted in the book of Hebrews? As scary as it sounds, you should know that MERCY TRIUMPHS OVER JUDGEMENT! (James 2:13) Just like it can be a terrifying thing for a child to face the judgment of their parents, it is equally terrifying for humanity to fall into the hands of its Creator however, a rational parents love for their child should always overrule any judgment that they could ever execute and it is not so much different with God and His creation of humanity. God is loving and compassionate and when God consumes the “adversaries”, God is destroying anything and everything that is not of God. If I place a piece of silver in fire, the silver doesn’t burn up because silver is “VALUABLE”. What burns up is the dross that builds up on the outside of the silver leaving the silver very clean and pretty when it comes out of the fire. We all have “dross” in our lives but we are “VALUABLE” to God. God didn’t create humanity to permanently destroy us or torture us for all eternity in literal fire. God is a consuming fire and when we are exposed to the spiritual fire of God that is never quenched, our dross (our sinful carnality) will be burn away forever and we will be clean and pretty just like the silver that is refined in the refiner’s fire… Contrary to what Christianity teaches, judgment is a “GOOD THING” for when judgment is executed appropriately, it will produce righteousness.

Isaiah 26:9 With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when your JUDGMENTS are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

  8. I do not agree at all with the claims made on this website, that there is no place of eternal death. I was warned of the second death (Hell) by the Holy Spirit the moment I asked God to reveal himself to me. I had been an atheist for three centuries and was totally into New Age, quantum physics, mind over matter thinking, subconscious programming etc. when I suddenly got a message from God himself and the first thing he showed me was that demonic spirits are real and that eternal death is real. Nobody came to me and shared the gospel with me or warned me about hell. God himself spoke to me right after a deep meditation, which had never happened during the 15 years prior in which I had meditated all the time.

I know what I was shown and I will never forget it. It was supernatural! Since then I only believe in what God is revealing to me, not what churches, people, science or schoolbooks say, unless the Holy Spirit confirms any of it to me as being true. So I encourage everyone who visits this site to think twice if they really want to ignore what the Holy Spirit has been telling them. To me Hell is as real as it get’s and we need to live for Christ and seek his love, forgiveness and presence to grow spiritually as souls and find eternal life. You decide for yourself. Much love and peace.

    1. You are certainly well within your right to disagree with the claims of this website but that doesn’t mean that you are right. I certainly do not claim to know everything but you’ve offered nothing of any real value only sharing your personal thoughts which I find to be quite outlandish. There are many people that have made equally ridiculous claims for which there is no merit whatsoever except for maybe to make some money. I am naturally very skeptical of anyone claiming that “God” revealed Himself to them for God for the most part has been silent and relatively mysterious to mankind since the beginning of creation. God allows bad things to happen in this world and He rarely ever intervenes yet you want me and my readers to believe that God stopped managing the universe to individually reveal Himself to you? I bet that makes you feel very special doesn’t it? Let me ask you this, how do you know it was God that revealed Himself to you? Do you know what God looks like? Have you ever heard His voice? I think a far better explanation for your delusions is that you have created your own “god” in your own mind that gives you your own self-derived satisfaction of wanting or needing to feel important and illuminating on your own religious fantasies. Whatever the case may be, believe what you want to believe and I’ll leave it at that for your claims are far too fallacious to warrant a respectable argument from me.

    1. There are many bibles that include the words eternal, everlasting, and forever and ever but there is no inspired Hebrew or Greek word that meant any of those words. Christian bible translators changed the meanings of the Hebrew word “owlam” and the Greek word “aionios” so that the word of God would align with their theologies. Read my article on the Truth about Eternal and Everlasting. I explain why those words are mistranslations in the bible. Judgment regardless if it is for believers or unbelievers makes no sense because the purpose of judgment is correction and rehabilitation. A person cannot be rehabilitated if they are punished forever.

    1. Yes but God’s destruction or being destroyed at the hands of God is only temporary. The bible uses fire as a metaphor. Fire destroys and burns up what is impure but it also refines and purifies things of value. Yes there are many bible translations that include words like “everlasting” or “eternal” but those are improperly translated words. Let me provide an example…

Jude 1:7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

      2 Peter 2:6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly;

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

From these 4 bible verses we see people suffering the vengeance of “eternal fire”, people being condemned to destruction, and being punished with everlasting destruction. We also see that Sodom and Gomorrah are used as examples of people being destroyed with this eternal or everlasting fire and destruction but is it really never ending?

The bible is inconsistent with this theme if we are to believe what most popular bible translations say because there are bible verses that contradict the doctrine of eternal punishment or everlasting destruction.

Matthew 10:15 Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

How can it be more tolerable for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment if they are suffering the vengeance of eternal fire? What is more tolerable that being tortured with fire for all eternity? Some religious lunatics will suggest that the fire is hotter as if you could really tell the difference between 200 degrees or 1,000 degrees. Both would burn you beyond reason and both would actually be intolerable. The idea is that judgment is not supposed to exceed more than a person can tolerate. The purpose of judgment is correction. If a person is sentenced to 10 years in prison, being sentenced to a year in prison would be more tolerable. That’s logical and reasonable. There is nothing reasonable or logical about being burned with fire for all eternity. It is demonic blasphemous nonsense. This verse proves that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah will be present during the day of judgment so the idea of them also being punished with everlasting destruction creates a conflicting paradox.

This final verse leaves no room for doubt or interpretation. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah will be restored and they will return to their land.

Ezekiel 16:55 Yes, your sisters, Sodom and Samaria, and all their people will be restored, and at that time you also will be restored. (NLT)

Ezekiel 16:55 Your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to the land they had before. And you with your daughters will return to your land also. (NLV)

So, evildoers will be “cutoff” that is – destroyed (dead) age-lasting until they are raised in the resurrection to judgment and ‘when God’s judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness’ (Isaiah 26:9).

  14. You explain basanizo as torment by ssickness by childbirth and so on so if the kjv says torment by fire is it wrong since the people will be casted into the lake of fire.

    1. The “torment” of Revelation 14:10 comes from the Greek word “basanizō” and it is used in scripture to describe the torment of sickness, being tossed at sea, the toiling from rowing a boat, a person’s soul being vexed from observing evil, and the pain of childbirth. Do any of those descriptions sound like it accurately depicts what being tortured in real fire would be like?

The bible uses the word “basanizo” to describe the torment of sickness and the pain of childbirth among other things.

Matthew 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented (Greek – basanizo).

Revelation 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained (Greek – basanizo) to be delivered.

In these two scriptures, the Greek word “basanizo” is translated as tormented as in the torment that is associated with being sick with palsy and then pained as in the pain of childbirth. Basanizo is also used to describe toiling in rowing a boat, being tossed in the waves at sea, and a person’s soul being vexed.

Mark 6:48 And he saw them toiling (Greek – basanizo) in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

Matthew 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed (Greek – basanizo) with waves: for the wind was contrary.

2 Peter 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed (Greek – basanizo) his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

What this means is that the Greek word “basanizo” can be used to describe the torment, pain, and suffering of a variety of things but it is never used to describe torment with literal fire. There are only two scriptures in the whole bible that talk about “torment by fire” and they are both in the book of Revelation which is a book full of symbolic and metaphoric language. Fire is used in scripture to reveal what fire does to things that have no value. Practically speaking, if you put some wood in some fire, what will happen? The wood will burn up right? But if you put some gold in fire, what will happen? Will the gold burn up or melt away? No, because gold is more valuable than wood. When gold passes through fire, the gold becomes refined because fire burns away all of the unwanted impurities making the gold even more valuable and shinier. The KJV doesn’t have it wrong it is Christian tradition that has it wrong. Christianity teaches that this torment by fire is literal and they literally think and teach that people will be cast in real fire to be tormented for all eternity. Not only is this insane, it is impossible. If a person is put in literal fire they will burn up in a matter of minutes. The only way that we can reconcile any truth to Christianity’s teachings is to assume that everyone that is cast into the lake of fire will be given “eternal life” but since when is eternal life a punishment for sin? The wages of sin is death not eternal life in the lake of fire. For a person to die by fire would be one of the worse ways to die and this form of punishment has been used before throughout human history. To cause someone to die by fire is grossly evil but even in that scenario, the end result is that the person would eventually die. To suggest that a person could never die but still feel pain of being burned up over and over again makes no sense because pain is associated with mortality. This is beyond even a scientific possibility. In Revelation 20:10, the devil is cast in the lake of fire and brimstone where he will be tormented day and night (for ever and ever)? What is for ever AND EVER? How many “evers” are there? This is an example of what the KJV got wrong and that is changing the Greek word “aion” to mean ever. It means “AGE” so the devil is tormented in the lake of fire day and night for the ages of ages. It could be 1 age or multiple ages but it won’t last for ever and ever. It will take as long as it is necessary for him to be completely refined. God is not a monster, He is a Father. The lake of fire is God for God Himself is likened as a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire. Do you think this is literal or metaphorical?

Malachi 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

God doesn’t use fire to torture people, He uses it to refine and to purify.

    1. It is not evidence, it is a misunderstanding. Jesus did speak on destruction and being destroyed but that condition is not eternal. Do you know what destruction/being destroyed means from a biblical perspective? Jesus himself was destroyed.

Matthew 27:20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

Did Jesus not come back from being destroyed? I do not argue that people will not be destroyed in the end but there is more to understanding what it means when the bible talks about being destroyed. God is going to the destroy the carnal man in all of us. When Jesus died on the cross that was God’s punishment on the carnal man. If we are no longer bound to the will of the flesh, we will be a new creation. The old carnal man will be destroyed to make way for the new spiritual man. God doesn’t destroy people for the sake of just being destroyed. God has a purpose for everything that He does.

There is no biblical record of Jesus ever speaking about the second death. That is a phrase that is found only 4 times in the book of Revelation but the second death is figurative language. Death and Hades(not Hell) are cast into the lake of fire but death and Hades are not tangible objects. You cannot pick up death or Hades and literally cast them anywhere. This is symbolic language to illustrate that death itself will be destroyed and abolished. There will be no more death.

1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Hades is also cast into the lake of fire but Hades is not Hell even though most popular bibles translate Hades as Hell in Revelation 20:14 following after the improper translation tradition of the King James Version.

The Greek word “hades” is a word conjunction of the Greek letter “a” or alpha and eidō. The Greek word “eidō” means to know, to perceive, and to see. When you add an “a” to the beginning of a word, it becomes the negative so “hades”
means to not know, to not perceive, and to not see. When you die, you do not exist anymore and it doesn’t matter how many fairy-tales Christianity invents that will change this fact. Hades is the place of not existing and a good way to think of this place is to consider the place you were before you were born. Before your birth, where were you? You were nowhere because you didn’t exist and when you die, you return to that place until the resurrection. This is the figurative “place” that God will cast into the lake of fire along with death. What this tells us is that no one will ever be left in the state of being dead or nonexistent.

1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave (Hades), where is thy victory?

      Does this make sense?

  15. My name is Alan Finch, and 44 years ago, I submitted myself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

In May of 2014, I began writing a document that addresses the Biblical issue of: “is there really going to be eternal torment in a physical Lake of Fire?” “is there really going to be eternal annihilation” “to give a biblical answer to the question of, if there is no eternal torment in a physical Lake of Fire, and there is no eternal annihilation of our very being, then what are we being saved from, and what is our purpose for being here during this present time really all about”

When I first started writing this document, it was 12 pages in length, it now has grown to be 30 pages in length. Obviously the document is much too long to post in this comment section, but If anyone would like a copy of my 30 page document, email me at: (candy33alan@aol.com) and I will be more than happy to email you a copy.

      2. Thank you for replying to my email. I have attached a copy of my 30 page article to this email. In my article I Biblically address that there is no eternal torment for anyone, and Biblically address the symbolic meaning of the “Lake of Fire.” I also give a number of Biblical references to Jesus and the Apostle Paul’s teaching on exactly who will rule & reign with Christ, which seems to have been greatly overlooked and misunderstood by today’s Church.

    1. The scripture I referenced is Malachi 3:2-3;
“But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire
And like launderers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord An offering in righteousness.

The literal sons of Levi were a priestly class and they were responsible for maintaining the physical tabernacle in ancient Israel. I don’t have time to quote of the Old Testament scriptures about these old types and shadows of things to come but Jesus Christ is now our high priest and God is building a new tabernacle not made with hands.

      Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Notice in Malachi 3:2-3, the day of judgment is being reference and Christ is coming to judge the world in righteousness. He is not coming to purify the literal biological descendants of Levi this is a symbol for all humanity when exposed to the judgment of Christ, we offer up ourselves to God “spiritually” as the literal priests did with animals under the old covenant. We are the offering of righteousness to God when our lives our transformed by the purifying judgment of Christ thereby spiritually symbolized as the sons of Levi. There’s more to it but it would take me quite some time to go over all of the specifics. I did however want to give you a general idea of how I came to that conclusion. If I have some time later to expand on this topic I will at a later time.

  17. Spoken as one who only very recently got free of the torment trying to marry the cognitave dissonance that is “God is Love” + God loves to torment His creation for all eternity… your “False Doctrine of Hell Exposed” series is likened to a cool, refreshing oasis in the middle of a spiritually dead desert that is modern-day Christianity.

I cannot even begin to tell you how utterly wonderful it is to finally have the shackles of bondage that is the “Perseverance of the the Saints/Eternal Torment” doctrine finally fall off, amen!

We cannot even begin to fathom how deep God’s love is for the crown jewel of His creation…

    1. Yes, breaking away from the hell heresy is tough for a lot of well-to-do Christians. Hell is the glue that holds their Christian “salvation” together. Without hell, Christianity loses it’s ability to control with fear mongering. Most Christians believe in hell out of ignorance and religious custom. It’s a struggle for a lot of people. It wasn’t hard for me to give up hell because I already despised the doctrine but it took some time for me to be able to defend the belief in universal reconciliation. It literally blows my mind how offensive Christians get when you try to explain to them that God will save everyone. I’ve come to the unequivocal conclusion that “Christians” just do not want God to save all of humanity even though they are supposed to be ambassadors of God’s love in the world. It is quite the paradox. I’m glad this site was useful for you and yes, our minds cannot even grasp the love God has for His creation currently being made in His image.

  18. I know exactly what you mean. While some do so unknowingly and others out of a perverse “joy”… there seems to be a great many individuals that seem to get a perverse pleasure in preaching eternal damnation.

I too despised the doctrine, but only recently started researching it out in a “drawing the line in the sand” single-minded manner:

Either God sentences his creation to eternal damnation for finite crimes due to a nature we were born into, with zero choice in the matter, or ??? – the result of which landed me on your site amongst other similarly awake sites that made it past the deception.

Moreover, it rekindled my faith to know the true Living God in a manner like no other!

  19. My name is Alan Finch. JESUS became my Lord and Saviour in April of 1976.

In John 12:32, JESUS clearly states that He is going to draw ALL people to Himself! Not a portion of mankind, but ALL of mankind.

In John 6:44, JESUS clearly states that nobody can come to Him, except the Father draws that person to Him. If you are a true Christian, you only became a Christian as the result of the God’s Spirit drawing you to JESUS. Don’t kid yourself, you only came to JESUS because God’s Spirit drew you to JESUS!

In the present, and in the future, God has His own timing when He will draw each individual to Himself.

GOD HAS NOT FAILED IN HIS ORIGINAL PLAN FOR ALL OF MANKIND. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO FAIL IN ANYTHING!
I have spent the last several years in Biblically expounding in a 31 page document that I have put together on the truth of there being no eternal suffering in a Lake of Fire for anyone. All that God does is for a benefiting purpose. How does an individual suffering eternal torment benefit that individual???

If anyone would be interested in a copy of my document, email me at: (candy33alan@aol.com), and I will email you a copy.
